  • First off, ordered pairs look like "[X,Y]". The X looks like the point on the X-axis, while the Y looks like the point on the Y-axis.
  • And the output containing the y-values is called the range.
  • The inputs containing the x-values are called the domain.
  • Relation is a set of ordered pairs. For example,{(2,1),(2,3),(3,2),(1,3),(3,1)}.
  • Function is a relation and is a set of ordered pairs in which one input will produce one output. For example {(3,4),{(5,7)}, {(6,2)}, {(8,1)}.
  • According to Mathematics and Wikipedia, the vertical line test is a visual way to determine if a curve is a graph of a function or not.
  • For short, we use the vertical line test to determine if a graph is a function or not.
  • For each graph, you will have to draw a vertical line. If the graph hits the vertical line 2 times, then it is NOT a function. If the graph hits the vertical line once (Any type of lines as long as it only hits the vertical line once) then it is a function.
  • How does the Vertical Line Test works?
  • Oh, I understand it now, thank you so much guys for your help, I've learnt many new things about function and relation today because of you all.
  • You're welcome!
  • The End
