A pair of twins, Romulus and Remus, were abandoned in the Tiber River by two servants of their Uncle Amulius.
The twins floated down the river, where a she-wolf found them and decided to adopt them as her own. She brought them to her cave, where they were raised to become wolf-like children.
An old shepherd named Faustulus stole the twins from the she-wolf at night because he had no children and wanted them to live with him and his wife. They became civilized and somewhat noble, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.
They realized they were his grandsons, and they decided they should reclaim the throne from their uncle, Amulius, who'd stolen it from the rightful rulers within the family.
The twins' grandfather, Numitor, the king of Alba Longa, eventually heard of them and ordered for them to be brought to him.
With perfect execution, Romulus and Remus rescued their mother, Sylvia, and killed their evil uncle. The true rulers had been restored, and Romulus and Remus set to building the great land that would become Rome.
Both twins contributed greatly to the building of their city, but each wanted it to be named after himself. The wolf-like instincts of the boys kicked in, and neither backed off. Their fight ended only when Remus was killed, and thus, the great city of Rome took its name from Romulus.
