  • Romans, fellow citizens, and friends, listen to me ezplain my reasons, and be silent so that you can hear. Believe me on my honor, and respect that honor so that you will believe me.
  • Brutus' Speech- Pathos
  • Who here is so vile that that he doesn't love his country?If there is any, let him speak for I've offended him.
  • Brutus' Speech- Logos
  • Caesar loved me, so I weep for him; Caesar had good fortune, so I celebrated it;; Caesar was valiant so I honored him; but Caesar was also ambitious, so I killed him.
  • Brutus uses his "honor', which is his notoriety amongst the people of Rome to convince the people that they should respect him and listen to what he has to say regarding the death of Julius Caesar. He claims that the death was good for Rome and tries to persuade the people into believing this as well.
  • Antony's speech- Ethos
  • Caesar was my friend, faithful and just to me.
  • Brutus asks a question to the crowd to see who loves the country. He demonizes the people who don't love the country to prove his point by calling them vile. Using this makes the crowd feel more patriotic. This helps prove his point of Caesars death being good by using pathos.
  • Antony's Speech- Pathos
  • Caesar explains to the crowd using logic. He explains that he killed Caesar because of his ambition. He compares this to how Caesar had good fortune so he celebrated him.
  • Antony's Speech- Logos
  • He brought many captives home to Rome whose ransoms enriched us all. Did this seem like ambition in Caesar?
  • Antony talks about how Caesar was a good person who was good to him. Antony points out that he was close with Caesar which shows the crowd that he is a credible and trustworthy source. This allows Antony to convince the crowd that Caesar was a good man because of his knowledge of Caesar.
  • Antony points out to the crowd that they all used to love Caesar. This makes them wonder why they still don't love him.By using pathos it makes them remember why they loved Caesar will help Antony convince them to honor and praise Caesar once again
  • You all loved Caesar at once, and with good cause. What reason then is holding you back from mourning him?
  • Antony counters Brutus' argument that Caesar had ambition and counters it using facts. He explains how Caesar did good things for Rome and asks the crowd how he did bad by using a rhetorical question.
