- After talking with my mom, she reminded me how much I love soccer and I realized it's not something I want to give up. I started practicing even more than before because I was determined to become a better player.
- Since Gabby's conversation with her mom, something sparked inside her again. The very next day, she set up her net, tightened her ponytail, and kicked the ball harder than she had all week. Every pass, every dribble, every shot felt like a promise she was making to herself. And with each kick, her determination grew stronger than her doubts, stronger than her fear. Gabby was ready to try again.

- After school, Gabby had dinner with her family. She didn’t say much at the dinner table and ate her food quickly. Once she finished her meal, Gabby ran upstairs to her room. Her mom noticed that something was bothering her and followed her up to the bedroom.
- Oh, honey…I know how much that meant to you. It hurts when we try our best and still don’t get the answer we hoped for. But not making the team doesn’t mean you’re not good enough. It just means you’re still growing. And I’ve seen how much heart and you have when you play. I know soccer makes you happy, so you shouldn't stop playing after one setback.
- I...I didn't make the soccer team. I don't want to play anymore, mom. I tried so hard and it still wasn't good enough to make the team.

- One day, I’m going to look back at this moment and be proud that I didn’t walk away from a sport that I have so much passion for. I didn't quit and continued to push myself to be better and that made all the difference.
- Gabby joined the Seacoast United Club soccer team and made so many great friends. Gabby learned that even when dreams take time, believing in yourself and never giving up can lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.
