- Alexander Hamilton is being introduced to the audience by the other characters in the musical. It begins with Burr asking how Hamilition managed to climb to the top despite coming from the very bottom. Other characters describe his achievements. Angelica and Burr then tell about his childhood. Hamilton's father ran away and then Hamilton and his mother became ill which his mother succumbed to. He moved in with his cousin and that cousin committed suicide. Hamilton was sent to America by those in the village which Burr is describing in this scene. The song ends by detailing Hamilton's relations with the characters.

- "Don't let them know what you're against or what you're for,"
- Hamilton meets Aaron Burr in the streets of New York city. Hamilton seems to know a lot about Burr and Burr begins to give Hamilton advice. In this scene, Burr tries to give advice to Hamilton but Hamilton doesn't quite agree with it. Burr takes Hamilton to get drinks and there he meets Laurens, Mulgion, and Lafayette.

- "I will fight the fight and win the war,"
- Prior to this, Hamilton and his new found friends plan to join the revolution. Hamilton meets Samuel Seabury who is giving a message from the king. Hamilton acts out against him. The American Colony begins to rebel against King George. The colonies want representation in the country of England since they are paying taxes to the King. In the song, King George the third begins to sing about starting a war to take back control over the American Colonies. This scene details just that.
