- Mina and Lucy were sharing a room in the town, but one night after the arrival of a strange ship Mina saw Lucy on a bench in the garden. She was half lying and half sitting but there appeared to be a dark figure standing over her! Mina cried out and the figure fled, disappearing into the darkness. When Mina helped Lucy back into the house she noticed that there were two small marks on the girl's neck. The following days Lucy appeared to be sleepwalking and seemed to grow paler and weaker as the days passed and the two marks on her neck were growing bigger.
- Van Helsing addressed Jonathan and Mina, as well as Arthur Holmwood, Quincey Morris and Dr Seward. Van Helsing said that they must take every precaution to protect themselves. He placed a small gold crucifix and a ring of garlic flowers around each man's neck. Then he explained to Mina that was best that she did not come with them. The walls appeared to be moving and there were thousands of rats! They went outside. The following day Van Helsing opened each of the remaining boxes and placed a piece of holy bread inside every one.
- Jonathan and Quince opened the box. There inside lay Count Dracula! As the final rays of daylight disappeared the Count opened his eyes. It was a horrendous sight. Jonathan took his knife and pushed it into Dracula's neck. Quincey too, took his knife and forced it into the Count's chest. Dracula let out a terrifying scream, but still the two men hacked at his body. Then, suddenly, all was silent. Moments later, his body disappeared. Mina ran towards him. Quincey Morris, the brave American adventurer had given his life to save his friends. The Count had been defeated.
