at the time of the corruption of the catholic church, Martin Luther saw the the harshness of the church and knew that there had to be a change. so Luther wrote the 95 thesis, stating everything that the catholic church had to improve on. he then nailed this to the door of the church.
in order for Martin Luther to bring change and to make the people aware of the corruption of the church, and how they were selling indulgences, he had to spread his word around so that people would be aware. so Luther took his writings to the press. And once the printing press was created he used this to spread his word.
in response to Luthers writings, the Catholic church was divided, and the protestants soon emerged from the church, led by Martin Luther. but the response from the catholic was quit harsh. They labeled him an enemy of the state and silenced his drawings.
