One day while riding the commuter train into the city, Tom makes Nick get off with him at a stop in the desolate town that sits between the East and West Egg.
'm Catherine, Myrtle's sister. Is it true Gatsby is the nephew or cousin of Kaiser Wilhelm?
Tom introduces Nick to George Wilson, a mechanic, and his wife Myrtle, who Tom is clearly having an affair with.

On their way into the city, Tom and Myrtle explain how they met on the train. Nick is very uncomfortable with all this.
There is an impromptu party at Tom and Myrtle's apartment in New York, and Nick meets Catherine, Myrtle's sister, and the McKee's, a couple who lives downstairs. Everyone starts drinking excessively and Nick gets drunk for the second time in his life.
As the night goes on, Tom and Myrtle get in a fight. Myrtle keeps shouting Daisy's name tauntingly and Tom breaks her nose. The party comes to an abrupt halt.
The behaviour of others make Nick fell uncomfortable, so he get back to Long Island.
