- The day it opened, the Ellis Island Immigration Station processed over 700 new immigrants. Completing his long, stressful journey to NY, Innocenzo Mazzi got his "green card" at age 20.
- Congratulations!
- Though the United States didn't exactly have the "golden streets" he pictured, Innocenzo was able to get double the wage he earned back in Italy as a factory worker, and sent money back to support his family.
- He became a father of two children and a naturalized citizen before he knew it. Over 12 million people took the same path through Ellis Island from 1892 to 1954.
