Texto do Storyboard

  • Why did I say those things to mom? She was only trying to be nice.
  • Earlier that Day..
  • Today was the final tryouts for the school track team. Jonathan has always been a very competitive person and has made the team every year. Unfortunately, this year the school received many new students and Jonathan did not finish within the top 5 students.
  • No way I just lost to these guys. They were so bad!
  • Congratulations! We have our finalized team for this year's track!
  • Any questions about the homework, class?
  • Jonathan didn't say a word to anyone for the rest of the day and held in his emotions. Slowly and gradually, his frustration built up and he struggled to manage the urge to lash out. Jonathan could not hold it in any longer.
  • I was clearly the fastest. Those guys definitely cheated!
  • No questions, Mrs. Puffin.
  • Jonathan directs his anger onto his mother when he gets home. This act of impulse is caused by Jonathan's ego redirecting his negative emotions from the track tryout towards his mother. This is called displacement.
  • You're so annoying! You ask the same thing every day. I'm not a little kid!
  • Welcome home, son! How was school-
  • Jonathan's displacement has now left his mother hurt and in confusion as she did nothing wrong but care for her son's well being.
  • Jonathan is now in regret of his impulsive actions. Although his mind was unconsciously protecting his ego from distress, he now has to face the consequence of upsetting his mother. This is only one of the many defense mechanisms that can be triggered during times of aguish.
