The Great Depression was the worst economic shutdown in US History . It was not a good time for anyone because everyone struggled to survive.
Grandpa can you explain to me what the Great Depression was and what life was like during it?
Life was good. People were enjoying the freedom that they had, new inventions, and dressing out of the traditional clothing. People were buying everything on credit even if they didn't have the money.
One day, a rumor started spreading about the banks. People rush to the banks to pull their money out in which the banks did not have all the money people had. People began to panic and start pulling out of the stock market as well.

With all that happening, the stock market would crash causing several businesses and banks to shut down. This led to many people losing their jobs.
Families sold their houses just so they could provide some food for their family. Many people lived on the streets because work was nearly impossible to find.
Some people in order to find work would hop on trains and go state to state looking for work. These people would be known as hobos. They would learn that the whole US was facing this crisis. People would struggle and suffer for about 4 years before things started to turn around.
