We should declare war against the Mexican's to dispute our disagreements.

The people of Mexico were tired of the fighting and they forced Santa Anna to resign as President. Shortly afterward, the new Mexican government was willing to accept the American demands. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the war which had lasted from 1846 to 1848.
I have no other option but to resign the people of Mexico are against me.

The Treaty of Guadalupe gave the United States a million sq. miles known as the Mexican Cession. America would pay Mexico $15 million and take responsibility for the previous $3 million demanded.
