Twins a world apart
Mrs Johnstone can't afford the milk and feed her 7 kids at the same time after her husband left her. She is warned that her milk will be cut off and her children taken away if she can't keep up with the bills.
Blood Brothers
After getting a new job, Mre Johnstone thought she could cope with having one more baby, but she is having two! So she makes a deal with her neighbour, Mrs Lyons, to have her take one of the babies, and bring it up herself.
Moving out
Mrs Lyons brings Edward up as her own baby while Mrs Johnstone brings up Mickey. However, because Mrs Johnstone fussed over Edward when working, Mrs Lyons gives her £50 after making her husband think it was for the nursery, and then fired her.
7 years later, Mickey and Edward meet up and become best friends. After finding out they were born on the same day, they become blood brothers. They play together with MIckey's neighbour Linda and get told off by the police.
Mrs Lyons does not want Mickey and Edward to mingle, so they decide to move to the countryside. However, Mickey and Linda are rehoused by the council and also moved to the countryside, near where Edward is now living.
