- Nelson and Howard arrive at Kuper Island Residential school for Indian children. They meet Brother Jerry and him and Nelson already have tension. When they arrive at their dorms, Nelson punches Brother Jerry and pins him down. Brother Jerry promises to make his life hell.
- Feldstar arrives at Kuper
- FELDSTAR
- Marty and his gang get word of the fight between Nelson and Jerry, and they want to see what Nelson is made of and put him in his place. They tell him to meet them behind the gym after class. He goes and they fight, ending with Nelson winning and gaining Marty's respect.
- Brother Jerry puts Nelson down

- Marty graduates from Kuper and Nelson becomes the big-shot. He has the respect of all the students and he makes sure all of the newcomers know that he is the boss. He starts smoking and he gets Marty's girl, Rosy. Life as a leader has its advantages for Nelson.
- Nelson wins the race and beats Brother Jerry

- OLLIE
- There is a new teacher at Kuper. Brother Feldstar comes and he has a very big influence on Nelson and the other boys. Unlike some of the other teachers, he is excited to teach and he wants the best for the boys. He gets Nelson very invested in Track and fitness, and Nelson becomes very good with Feldstar's motivation.
- FELDSTAR
- Nelson is doing amazingly at the Track meet. He signed up for all the sprints, and in all of the races, his only competition is his cousin Ollie. Brother Jerry gets in Nelson's head about being able to win. But Feldstar brings him back up and clears his head.
- Nelson focuses up and absolutely dominates Ollie in the final race. He is extremely happy and everyone is telling him how good he ran. He is happy he beat Ollie, but he is more happy that he beat Brother Jerry.
