One major theme of the Monsters Are Due On Maple Street by Rod Serling is that violence does not solve problems. One example that supports this theme is when Steve/Charlie/Les Goodman the residents of maple Street start to get mad and violent and the start to cause each other because the are scared of someone being the monster/alien and this leads up to people getting hurt and things getting destroyed now everyone is suspicious of each other because they think someone could be the monster so this shows that violence does not solve problems. Another example is that by arguing and being suspicious of other people this just leads to violence. The residents of maple Street started to be suspicious of Les Goodman because his car started but he was not scared and he started shouting at the residents because he was mad and then they started to be suspicious of Steve and Charlie because Steve had a radio set and Charlie was acting weird and then Pete van horn came outside at night and he got shot because the thought he was the alien/monster so that shows why violence does not solve problems.
