- HISTORY OF COLD WAR
- The fear of communism is a major source of concern in the United States. We are concerned that a nuclear war will erupt.
- For a variety of reasons, stalin lacked faith in Churchill and Roosevelt. When russia was poised to terminate the war, for example, Churchill and Roosevelt did little to assist stalin.
- During WWII, the Soviet Union suffered a higher number of casualties. This may have been prevented if Russia had provided greater assistance.
- The Soviet Union desired a buffer between themselves and Europe; Europe perceived this as an attempt by the Soviet Union to extend its territory as well as the spread of communism.
- The United States opted to develop an atomic bomb. This was seen as a threat by other countries. It would not have been a problem between countries if the usage had kept this a better secret.
