  • As I read this it began to pop in my head that this character is likely insensitive. He seems to not care about the thoughts and feelings of a jaguar, which is similar to the definition. Maybe there will be a point where his feelings will be disregarded for the game to teach him a lesson.
  • "Who cares how a jaguar feels?" (Connell 60).
  • This indicated to me that Rainford is a very observant character as he's noticing footprints on the ground for what's around. He also is a great survivalist, as he sought out the area with people to find food.
  • "He examined the ground closely and found what he had hoped to find—the print of hunting boots"(Connell 62).
  • “So I said: ‘What are the attributes of an ideal quarry?’ And the answer was, of course: ‘It must have courage, cunning, and, above all, it must be able to reason” (Connell 65).
  • Right away I was very shocked that he was talking about humans! I pinned this quote as it shows that the general engages in immoral actions. Immoral actions include doing things that go against the norm, and killing humans for fun fits that definition well.
