The Comanche Indians swept their competition and advanced with ease to the Dual State tournament as the #1 favorite. We left for Enid, the whole team seemed to be coming down with the flu, riding on the bus passing around cough drops from seat to seat.
Our team dominated in the first two duals against Bridge Creek and Mangum, only losing a few matches in each. As we moved on to face Marlow in the Dual state finals, we were excited to see what was in store.
The dual started off in our favor after winning the opening matches. As the dual went on, Marlow stole away some of the matches making it too close to call by the time I was up to wrestle.
I started the match strong, getting two takedowns and only letting my opponent escape once, making the score 4-1. The second period started with both of us on our feet and my opponent took me down at the end, making the score tight at 4-3. In the third period, I started on top and rode him out for the rest of the match, extending the team score in our favor.
After my match, we shut out Marlow, making it impossible for them to come back. To end the dual, we forfeited the last two matches and won the title of 3A Dual State champions!! This was a great victory, since Comanche hadn't claimed this title in over two decades.
