- The story begins with George and Lennie, finding a creek and creating a fire. George takes out some beans and spoons for the two of them to eat.
- Well, we ain't got any
- I like 'em with ketchup
- George and lennie are hired to work on the ranch. Curley, the boss's son, dislikes Lennie because he is larger than himself and begins to pick on him.
- Leave him alone
- Why'n't you tell her to stay the hell home where she belongs?
- After Curley leaves the bunkhouse, he accuses Slim of sleeping with his wife when she is no where to be found. Carlson jumps to Slim's defense.
- Well, I didn't mean nothing, Slim. I just ast you.
- Well you been askin' me too often. I'm gettin' God damn sick of it.
- Still heated from accusing Slim, Curley turns to Lennie and begins to punch him, until Lennie grabs onto his hand with such strength it breaks.
- Make 'um let me alone, George
- Get 'im, Lennie
- Curley and most of the men leave for town for the doctor, while Curley's wife, Crooks, Lennie and Candy remain behind. One by one they make it to his room where they chat.
- Maybe you better go along to your own house now. We don't want no trouble.
- You gotta husban'. You got no call foolin' aroun' with other guys
- Well, I ain't giving you no trouble. Think I don't like to talk to somebody ever' once in a while? Think I like to stick in that house all time?
- Crooks room with curley's wife, crooks, lennie and candy.
- Later on Lennie was looking after the puppy Slim gave him at the barn, Curley's wife walks in and they begin to talk. Curley's wife tells Lennie to touch her hair but does not let go when she tells him to. He panics and shakes her to quiet her, and her neck snaps, causing her death
