Runoff from city streets contain pollutants like oil, heavy metals, and human waste which can end up in our waterways.
In order to fix this, we should inform people on how to dispose their waste properly and provide the resources to do so.
Farms can reduce their impact on the water quality by filtering the sediments and monitoring their wastewater.
Farms produce toxic runoff like pesticides, manure, and excess nitrogen and phosphorus. This adds to eutrophication of water ways which grow an abundance of algae and plankton.
People should not dispose any chemicals or oil down the drain and they should monitor the amount of pesticides and fertilizers they put on their lawn.
Households dispose waste like detergent, fertilizer, and human waste which can end up in our groundwater making it harder to treat for future use.
