  • A fad diet is a diet that promises quick weight loss through what is usually an unhealthy and unbalanced diet. These diets target people who want to lose weight quickly without exercise. Some fad diets claim that you will lose fat, but in reality you are really losing water weight. Fad diets that restrict certain foods may work for a short period of time. However, the restriction of certain foods makes them difficult to follow and can actually be harmful to your health. Health risks of fad diets include-Dehydration-Weakness-Fatigue-Nausea-Headaches-Constipation-Inadequate vitamin and mineral intake
  • When you make food choices, you want to make sure you are eating enough protein, carbohydrates, and fat. The recommended acceptable ranges for these macronutrients (a type of food required in large amounts in the diet) is as follows: -Proteins should be 10-35% of total calorie intake-Carbohydrates should be 45-65% of total calorie intake-Fat should be 20-35% of total calorie intake
  • If a person's body weight is 20% higher than it should be, they can be considered obese. Obesity causes many problems such as:-High blood pressure-Excess cholesterol-Type 2 diabetes-Heart disease-Stroke-Certain cancers-Breathing problems-Sleeping Issues
  • Food advertisements and the accessibility of food can lead to unhealthy food choices. Convenience stores, vending machines, grocery stores, fairs and other special events all have a vast array of unhealthy foods to choose from. Some of the worst food products that are advertised the most are: -High sugar cereal products-Soda-High fructose corn syrup contained in fruit flavored drinks-High sodium snack products-Products loaded with additives such as coloring, dyes, flavorings, and preservatives-Pesticide laden food

  • The five pillars to having good physical wellness is flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and cardiovascular endurance.Flexibility: degree of extension, called motion, your joints and surrounding muscles are able to perform.Muscular endurance: ability of your muscles to exercise low weight for long periods of time.Muscular strength: ability of muscles to exercise high weight for short periods of time.Cardiovascular endurance: Exercise for long periods of time where heart, lungs, and blood vessels are required to work efficiently.
  • In order to have good mental/emotional wellness, you will need to have healthy ways to relief stress. To help manage stress you can:-Tell yourself it is just stress and it will pass-Focus on what matters most-Have your priorities set-Create a plan to manage stressIt is also important to be aware what stage of stress you are in in order to create a plan that helps you the most.Having positive talk and setting appropriate goals is another way to improve your social wellness.
  • To improve social wellness, you can:-Be a good friend by listening to others, being honest and sensitive, being reliable, and admitting mistakes-Taking responsibility for mistakes-honoring commitments-Taking care of yourself by having good hygiene, good rest, physical activity, and a healthy diet
