Texto do Storyboard

  • Doctor, what type of cells are there in my immune system and how to they work?
  • Well there are plenty...
  • Our immune system is an army of cells that is always roaming our body ready to ward of any attack
  • I will eat you
  • A very important cell is the mast cell. This cells are constantly searching for suspicious objects in our body. When they find something they release a signal that alerts the body and blood is rushed to the problem area. This causes inflamation
  • The phagocytes patrol your body or they can stay in certain places and wait for their que.
  • Neutrophils are the most abundant cells. They patrol the body and can therefore get to places very quickly. This cells kill the infected cells and then die which leads to the formation of pus. They can also detect cells that have gone rouge such as cancer cells and kill them too.
  • Natural killing cells can efficiently detect when our own cells have gone rouge or are infected with a virus. NKC detect a protein produced by normal cells called MHC, basically whenever a cell is not normal it stops producing this protein. When NCK find an adnormal cell they release chemicals and destroy.
