  • Please help! His mother is dead and we need the most help we can get.
  • Rocco Corresca was a young boy who lived in large house in Italy with different small boys. This house was run by nuns and Rocco stayed her until he was 8 years old.
  • Rocco Corrresca was then encountered by an old man who claimed to have been his grandfather. He enlightened Rocco by saying he has a very large house in Naples, Italy. However, he was taken to a dark cellar instead with other young boys like him.
  • Rocco and two other boys from the cellar, Francisco or Paulo would be forced to go out into the street and beg people for money, so the old man could profit off of their work. They would do this in the cold, and go after Americans because they were perceived as "rich".
  • Francisco and Rocco tricked the old man into thinking they were going to bed for money. Instead, they ran away and collected their money from begging for money. They stayed with a fisherman, Ciguciano and his daughter Teresa for 3 years and taught not to beg for money anymore.
  • Rocco and Francisco encountered a man that was able to take them to America, because they believed they could get really rich easily. When they finally arrived, they saved up and Rocco was taught the bootblack business. After continuous hard work, they opened up two stores.
  • Before getting to America, Rocco's living situation was never acceptable to live a normal life. He worked hard before he got to America by begging for money with no shoes in the winter, move the coal, and help around the bootblack business. When he was able to find what worked for him, he created an opportunity for himself. "Opportunities don't happen. You create them." -Chris Grosser
