- Yes, that is correct! Both of our examples are considered premises since they support the conclusion Socrates is mortal. An easy way to remember premises is that they are like the ingredients needed for a final dish.
- I finally understand what premises are now. Now the second thing I remember mentioned in class are that there are two types of arguments but I completely forgot what they were called!

- Besides the dos and donts it’s important to remember that a good argument shows that its conclusion is worthy of belief or acceptance; a bad argument fails to show this. A good argument gives you good reasons to accept a claim; a bad argument proves nothing. To add on, a good argument has true premises plus a conclusion that follows from those premises. A bad argument fails at least one of these conditions it has a false premise or a conclusion that does not follow.
