- President Andrew Jackson fired many of his government workers and replaced them with people who had helped him win the presidential election. Many of these people did not have any experience with government work but were very loyal to Jackson.

- THE SPOILS SYSTEM WILL BENEFIT OUR DEMOCRACY
- President Jackson claimed that the Spoils System was good for his democracy since it allowed for more ordinary people to have government jobs.

- WE WILL BE REMOVING THE SPOILS SYSTEM AND WILL REPLACE IT WITH THE "PENDLETON CIVIL SERVICE REFORM ACT"
- The Spoils System was a massive part of Jackson's presidency and was even used by the future residents after he served his term. However, the Spoils System became a problem later on and a law called the "Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act" was passed in 1883. This law made it to where you had to actually qualify for the job.
