- Climax
- Greg Ridley is a 14 year old boy who is failing math. Greg wants to play basketball for his high school but he is failing so bad that he can't play.
- Falling Action
- You sound like a smart boy but really ask the most foolish questions
- Greg got so angry at his dad he decided to run away from home and into an abandoned house. When he is inside he meets an old man named Lemon Brown. Greg describes Lemon Brown's voice as dry twigs being broken (simile). Lemon Brown has a treasure but doesn't tell Greg what it is.
- Resolution
- Where have you been? I have been worried sick looking all over for you.
- A group of guys hear Greg and Lemon Brown talking about a treasure and bust into the abandoned house. They fight each other and Lemon Brown gets a few bumps and bruies and says Howdy, Mr. Pain, sees you back again. (pesonification) Greg and Lemon Brown defeat them. Lemon Brown shows Greg what his treaure is and shows him that it's a harmonica and shreds of paper from when his son was in the war. While his son was out at war he died. Lemon Brown says that is the only way to remember him so that is why it is his treasure.
- Conflict / Theme
- I think it's a sign from the universe that I met Lemon Brown today, must have been my fate. I really should be more grateful for my dad because he is still living and I get to spend time with him.
- Greg and Lemon Brown leave the house and Greg keeps asking him a bunch of questions about his life and son. Lemon Brown is happy to answer them.
- Greg walks back to his house and the sky starts to clear up. While he is walking he is preparing himself for what his dad is going to say to him. He arrives at his house, rings the bell, sees his dad waiting for him and walks in with a smile.
- Greg realizes that even though he may not have the best grades he has a father who is still alive and loves him. He believes that meeting Lemon Brown today was a really nice coincidence.
