- Prince Siddhartha did not stop meditating and continued through the rest of the night. He saw his past lives, the great cycle of rebirth, and the importance of karma. While meditating, he saw a way to gain freedom from the continuous cycle and by morning, Prince Siddhartha became the Buddha. He finally found enlightenment.
- When Prince Siddhartha turned 29, his father let him see the outside world, so he decided to go on a trip with his driver. He saw an old person, a sick person, and a dead person. He also saw a person who gave up all his things to be happy.
- Prince Siddhartha decided to give up his old style of living after he met the ascetic, to find the meaning of happiness. He asked his driver to go to the corner of the forest and cut off his hair.
- While living as an ascetic, Prince Siddhartha learned that giving up everything would not bring enlightenment. On his 35th birthday, he felt that he would soon meet enlightenment. He was given 8 handfuls of grass from a grass cutter as a present and placed it at the foot of a tree and sat down.
