  • (Name P: 3) 1:Population
  • 2: Genetic Variation
  • 2: Overproduction of Offspring
  • Deer are very populated in the connersville forest. Their different color furs show natural variation in the population. Their home also features predators such as wolfs.
  • 4: Competition & Natural Selection
  • Genetic variation gives all the deer notably different characteristics. The main one is their fur color, some are very dark, some are light brown and others are snowy white. Genetic variation is the genes creating different individuals in the same population.
  • 5: Adaptation
  • Kicking off the winter season, many new baby deer are being born in many amounts of colors. However it's alarming how many new deer are born aka, overpopulation. Shelter, safety and especially food will become scarce.
  • Evolution Has Occured
  • The darker fur deer are easier for its predator, the grey wolves, to hunt. The deer with the lighter fur can hide easier. if the deer are lighter colored they will survive.
  • White fur deer were more likely to survive and create more offspring than any other. After many years of natural selection, this had most of the population of the new generation to be white deer. this makes it easier for the deer to survive in the snow.
  • the environment of deer can change quckly or not. The genetic differences can include a short/long tail, light/dark fur, short/long back legs, big/small ears etc. In this environment specifically, the dominant genetic trait is white fur. The environment of the snowy forest gives a sort of layout to whom can adapt , survive and create offspring.
