  • Green Revolution
  • Methods of biotechnology were invented and led to the modernization of agriculture.
  • This revolution domesticated plants and animals. The effects of the revolution were sedentary lifestyles, close-knit societies, it allowed for specialization. Land became more efficient resulting in a surplus of food. The development of tools and weapons Increased population and material possessions. This also resulted in new social organizations.
  • There were farming methods introduced such as the four crop rotation and selective breeding. There were also new farming machinery introduced such as Threshing machines, seed drills, sickles, scythes, moldboard plows, and the cotton gen. Some effects were more large farms, fewer small farms and people tended to move to cities and work in factories.
  • This included innovations such as dwarf plants, biotechnology, and the genetic altering of plants. Some positive effects were that it lead to the modernization of agriculture, saved lives by being able to keep a steady food resource, increased crop yields, used less land to produce food, and rice and wheat were largely affected. Some negative effects were more water is needed to for the crops, pesticides and chemicals would contaminate the clean water supply, and genetically modified seeds were more expensive than normal seed stock.
