  • Before the Invention of the Mercury Barometer, Aristotle came up with the theory of Horror Vacui, to explain how water pumps and suction works. He taught that nature hated vacuums, and that a vacuum would be impossible since he believed air had no weight, and the surrounding material would rush in to fill the empty space in the vacuum. With that in place, it was then taught that the pump would pull up empty space being filled by water, and these teaching were not questioned since the Catholic Church accepted Horror Vacui as truth.

  • How Humans Reacted
  • And THIS is what happened to the fools who continued to say I was wrong. They found out I know exactly how to cause the most protruding of blood-flow out of the human body!
  • After Evangelista Torricelli's discovery, there was great scientific excitement, with more experiments and replications soon to follow. Now there was proof of changing pressure, meteorology was born, and scientists founded a new basis for scientific inquiry. While scientists were excited, the public was not very pleased, nor was the Catholic Church. People became very suspicious of Torricelli, even accusing him of witchcraft in fear of not knowing how he pulled off this experiment.
