One morning, I was sleeping peacefully in my bed. I was awaken by mom running into my room yelling something. I sat up in bed and asked her what she was screaming.
climax
Once I was fully awake, I begged my mom to tell me what she was saying. She said to me Britny was just killed in a car wreck! I remember asking her again because I knew what she was saying could not be what I was hearing.
falling action
My mom told me to pack a bag and left my room. All I could hear between my own sobs, were the yells and sobs of my mom. I sat in my closet floor bawling, not knowing what I was even looking for to pack.
resolution
Once my dad and brother got home from work, we all loaded up and drove the two hour trip to my aunt and uncles house. My mom and I sat in the backseat and cried the whole way. Not a word was said between the four of us. We were all in shock and heartbroken.
Arriving at my aunt and uncles house, seeing my family so distraught, was the most gut wrenching thing I had ever done. We all consoled each other the best we could. We hugged and cried until we couldn't any longer. It was a long and exhausting day and night.
A couple of days later was Brinty's funeral. This is the moment it really sank in that I had lost my cousin, my best friend. We laid Britny to rest with many friends and family there. It was a sad but beautiful celebration of her life.
