  • What type of experiment will we do? Can we chose it?
  • Ya can we chose the experiment?
  • Okay class! Today we are working on variables, and we will be doing an experiment
  • That's a great idea!
  • Sure, you can chose it. What would you like to do?
  • Can we bounce a tennis ball on 3 different types of surfaces to see which surface it bounces highest on?
  • And we can drop the ball outside on the concrete in front of the school last.
  • First lets drop it on this floor, after that we can drop it in the gym
  • I'll go get the ball and the meter stick
  • Variables are so important because they help and guide you through an experiment.
  • Why are the 3 variables so important?
  • If you don't already there are 3 variables, control, dependent and independent. Control is something that has to be the same the whole time. Independent is the thing that you change and dependent is the results.
  • Wow, I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing.
  • I recorded the ball bouncing as high as 4 feet and 4 inches
  • wow I didn't see that coming. I thought the ball would bounce much lower than that.
  • Wow lets see is the ball bounces even higher on the gym floor since its made for basketball.
  • Okay you can drop the ball.
  • The ball bounced 5 more inches than in the lab which is 4 feet and 9 inches high
  • Looks like guess was pretty accurate, the tennis ball does bounce higher on this floor than it does in the science lab
  • I'm so happy that our experiment is actually coming together!
  • OMG, this floor is really mean't for bouncing balls.
