  • In this class we have learned about how many groups have gained their equal rights. For example the "Most important developments in equality for education Title IX (Equal Rights for Women)" where it established no one can be excluded on the basis of sex in federal funded institutions. Then we also learned that children's rights are still developing and that "children aremore than simply possessions of their parents; they have their own rights as individuals (London Ramstetter)
  • Yes! Speaking of rights the court case Hernandez v. Texas extended constitutional rights to Mexican Americans and other races not just white and African American!. This class covers a lot of human rights and how different groups gained them!

  • We have learned about how the media plays a role in democracy. "The media educates, informs and entertains – includingthrough news, opinion, analysis, satire and drama ("Role of the Media"). We have seen how things such as social media, newspapers, tv, and podcasts can spread information. Such as the podcast on Legal Personhood for Animals where they talked about granting animals these rights for better legal protections. They even stated their mission of the podcast to "and so we are now hereto persuade you that you are wrong and that you have the power and indeed the responsibilityto change the common law("Legal Personhood for Animals")

  • We have learned about different types of movements there are. For example "grassroots activism than at any time since the Great Depression...We witnessed an unprecedented number of Americans engaged in protest, volunteering (phone banking, door-knocking) for issue campaigns and political races, and donating to progressive causes (Drier)."
  • Another example of activism is Social Justice Art. Which is "expression of work related to public policy, racial inequity, injustice, human rights, or any other theme related to the oppression of a group of people. ("What is social Justice Art")
