On the night of April 18, 1775, Dr. Joseph Warren warned Paul Revere and William Dawes that he saw British soldiers marching toward them.

At dawn, the redcoats marched to Lexington and encountered about 70 minutemen. A shot was fired, but no one knew who shot it. Both sides starting firing! When the shooting stopped, there were a total of 8 minutemen dead. The British have claimed this victory.
