Oh, I learned about The France subsistence crisis
I am great, just got a mild headache from todays history class
Hey! How are you Kriti?
Ok, so can you tell me about how the France Subsistence Crisis started?
I am fine Rahul, how are you?
Really? What did you learn? I learned about the Bengal famine today in our history class.
I will tell you on one condition later on you will tell me about the Bengal Famine. Deal?
Ok so here we go, The reason that France suffered such subsistence crisis was because population of France rose from 23 million in 1715 to 28 million in 1789 which led to a rapid increase in the demand for food grains. Due to this production of grains could not keep pace with the increasing demand. Prices of grains sky-rocketed but the labours wage did not keep up with the bread prices.
Sounds Good!
That is perfect! Now lemme tell you about how the Bengal Famine started
OMG! that is really sad. Now let us discuss about consequences of the tragedies.
Oh I am curious about Bengal Famine
The Bengal Famine of 1943 was a failure from The British empire and WWII also affected it a lot. Due to the requirment of extreme financing for WWII, lands of 1000’s of poor subsistence farmers was confiscated by military officials and British army. The rice exports from Burma was lost due to Japanese invasion. The land suffered from drought and water level was going down. Everything was going downhill for Bengal. At the end Bengal suffered from millions of deaths and starved people.
Ok, So I will tell the consequences of The France subsistence crisis first.
This subsistence crisis was normal like any other in France. Prices of bread sky-rocketed, people rioted, many people died, women and children starved to death. But this also led to the execution of Louis XVI. There was a rumor going around that the king hurdeled all the grains and that led to the crisis. So people broke into the bastille in search of weapons and the king was captures. Later on he was presented to the court and later on executed. This freed France from monarchy rule and they established democracy.
Well that was a happy ending. Now hear about Bengal famine consequences.
Ok
That is really sad! but government has also taken many procedures to avoid this.
An estimated 2.1 to 3.8 million Bengalis perished, out of a population of 60.3 million, from starvation, malaria, and other diseases aggravated by malnutrition, population displacement, unsanitary conditions and lack of health care. The revenues of East India Company dropped to £174,300 due to the famine and resulted in death of almost 4% of Bengal's population .
Wow! that was really fun.
Lets eat our food now I am starving
Yes, I really enjoyed it too!
