Texto do Storyboard

  • The year is 2081.We are all finally equal!
  • My name is Harrison Bergeron, and I will not comply. I am emperor and one day I will escape prison and rule!
  • Hazel: That dance was nice.George: I wonder if maybe the dancers shouldn't be handicapped. Maybe they'd dance better.
  • "I am free, and shall now select my Empress!"Harrison escaped prison and now finds a beautiful and willing ballerina to become his Empress.
  • "You are blindingly beautiful!"
  • Harrison, son of George and Hazel Bergeron, danced with his beautiful ballerina, leaping through the air. The two were both shot dead by Handicapper General, Diana Moon Glampers.
  • In his story "Harrison Bergeron", Kurt Vonnegut makes the point that if people were all seemingly "equal", society would still be unequal for those who are forced to be disabled that were not created that way. There would be no interest or variety in society, but rather robotic-like people who are oppressed and burdened. Vonnegut seems to imply through his exaggerations that life will never be fair, even if the people who appear to have it better off are challenged with disabilities. His work indicates that it would be unfair to make healthy and well-abled people disabled. Vonnegut implies through his story that in a society where everyone is considered equal, there is no freedom or individuality. Equality isn't something that can be achieved.
