- Some people are just so quick to judge. It's not fair.
- Jeffrey's older brother recently died of leukemia. At home, Jeffery's parents barely notice he's there, and his mother hasn't gotten out of her pajamas since his brother's death.
- At home, Anna's mother is ostracized because she had Anna at 16 years old. Some people in town think that Anna and her mother are bad influences.

- Like, Jessica said she doesn't want to be your friend, Danielle.

- I wish they would stop yelling!
- I want you out of this house!!
- At school, Danielle is the main target of Alexia, who makes her feel horrible about herself. One minute Alexia wants to be "friends", and the next minute she is calling her horrible names.
- At home, Alexia hears her parents yelling at each other all of the time. The yelling stops when her mother leaves her mean and angry father.
