- Epimetheus and Prometheus were given the task of creating man. They were spared from imprisonment in Tartarus for not fighting with their fellow titans.
- I refuse to do so

- Epimetheus was responsible for giving#160; a positive trait to every animal, but when it was time for man, he found out that there was nothing left.
- Prometheus stole fire and gave it to man. He also taught man how to use fire and this began civilization. Zeus was outraged because of this

- Zeus was now focused on Prometheus. Prometheus knew of the prophecy that spoke of the goddess Thetis giving birth to a son that would overthrow Zeus. Prometheus refused to name the goddess so Zeus decided to torture it out of him.
- Prometheus was sentenced by Zeus to spend eternity chained to Mount Caucasus where each day an eagle will devour his liver from his body. Prometheus spent thousands of years suffering from this.
- One day, Heracles found his way to Mount Caucasus and shot the eagle. Also while doing his 12 labors, he accidentally shot Chiron (centaur) with a poison arrow. Chiron begged for death and offered to go to the underworld instead of Prometheus. Prometheus accepted and said the name Thetis which freed him from the chains. He was welcomed back to Olympus but on the condition that his cleverness was to be put for the use of the gods.
