- THE ASSASSINATION OF ARCHDUKE FRANZ FERDINAND
- On June 28th, Ferdinand went to Sarajevo to inspect Bosina Herzegovina's army, after a meeting with the German Emperor - Kaiser Wilhelm - in mid-June, 1914.
- After the inspection, Archduke Franz and his wife, Sofia, went out to tour Sarajevo.
- On the tour, they encountered a nationalist who threw a bomb at the two; injuring an officer and a couple of people. This was ordered by Gavrilo Princip who heard of the visit, along with the nationalist of the Young Bosnia Movement, and decided to assassinate Ferdinand.
- Princip then shot the couple sitting in the car, ultimately killing them. Although, he was quite careful with this; shooting them through the crowd, as to not get caught.
- This led to the First World War; Austria declared war on Serbia, and in response, Russia declared war on Austria. Continuing this, all the countries in alliance with Russia, Austria and Serbia declared war on the opposing bloc.
