Things are beginning to improve. The 17th Amendment passed, which means we get to vote for Senators. The Sherman Clayton Anti-Trust Acts allow there to be a limit on the power of business. The Sherman Silver Act has helped tremendously with our monetary woes. And, the Federal Reserve means we aren't constantly worried about changing interest rates.

Things have improved. The 16th Amendment makes taxes more equitable. The political changes of the recall, initiative, referendum, political primary and secret ballot, have given us as ay. Unions have been excluded from the definition of trusts. And, we have child labor laws so our children can stay in school and workers Compensation incase we get hurt. But, there is no minimum wage or maximum hours and unions are not guaranteed.

I know. We wrote books like The Junglewhich helped pass the Meat Inspection Act and the Food and Drug Act. But the system didn't totally change. Some of the new requirements drove small businesses out of the market.
We formed Settlement Houses and taught immigrants English, provided before and after school programs. Thank goodness Child Labor Laws were passed. But, there is still a lot to do.
