Counselling is helpful because it allows the patient to explore the reasons why they are anxious, to talk about it and formulate a plan to manage it.
Physical Exercise
Graded exposure/Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is helpful in allowing the patient to slowly face the factors triggering their anxiety in a graduated and controlled way.
E-Therapy
Stress management including deep breathing exercises, relaxation exercises and meditation are helpful to control symptoms of anxiety such as breathlessness, shakes and agitation.
Medication
Physical exercise helps with self esteem, energy levels and general well-being. Exercise also helps with keeping the mind occupied with other things.
Online programs e.g. Smiling Mind, Brave Program are helpful to recognise anxiety and teach methods to manage it in the privacy of the patient's home and in their own time.
Medication can sometimes be used together with other strategies to help control symptoms e.g. antidepressants, anxiolytics and sleeping tablets.
