How Antibiotic Resistance Occurs
- Dead Bacteria
- Other Bacteria in Body
- Normal Bacteria
- Resistant Bacteria
Some bacteria are more resistant than others.
Antibiotics kill less resistant bacteria. Not completing the antibiotics allows the more resistant ones to survive.
Antibiotics are no longer working for this new infection. Resistant genes can transfer to other bacteria, causing more issues.
More resistant bacteria quickly replicate and take over the body. This leads to a worse infection.
