How did she do that?
I was just reading about Gina Mirabella. Did you know that because of her mother actively advocating for her, Gina was able to change the life of many people without even knowing it!
It was shocking to read that even when she was born and everyone seems to put the odds against her, her mom never gave up on her and what she felt her daughter could accomplish!
How did that make you feel?
Well, I think a bit like Gina's mom. We should focus on what people can do as opposed to focusing on the negative or their deficits.
Would you do the same as an educator?
Yes, I mean at first I might be hesitant but it's important to remind parents that they have power and should feel motivated to help their children, especially when they know what they need!
What do you mean? How will you help parents?
First, I'd have to get to know the child and the family. Then I can help by providing resources or community based organizations that can help these children get what they need to live life to the fullest!
That sounds great!
Yes, parents can even speak at like a school function to let others know things about them or their child that other might not know. The more people aren't afraid, it helps build a community around the child too.
