- Compromise of 1850- 1850
- Uncle Tom’s Cabin- 1852
- Kansas-Nebraska Act/“Bleeding Kansas”- 1854
- The beginning, the Compromise of 1850, a divison between free and slave states. This compromise created a split of states, different laws as well as freedoms. This produced the Fugitive Slave Act, where no matter where the slaves are caught they must be returned to their orginal master. The Northerners were deeply distrubed from this Act and protested against it.
- Dred Scott Decision- 1857
- The book Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe, developed arguments that slavery was both a politcal and moral issue. This produced two sides of collectivism, the Northerners felt more devoted as well as wanted to protest more. On the otherhand, the Southerners felt as if this book was a hoax, the book shared a wrong outlook of slavery and plantations.
- Harpers’ Ferry- 1859
- Election of 1860- 1860
- The Dred Scott Decision was created after Dred Scott, a slave desired to bring his case of freedom to Congress. Slaves were pronounced to be not citizens of America therefore, they were known as property and did not have any rights. This violated the fifth amendment if the slaves felt as if they recived freedom. Since property is allowed from the consitution, it was forrbined for slaves to be removed from their masters.
- Harpers Ferry, an event John Brown held on October 16, 1859. Twenty-one men were ordered to produce slaves with weapons, as well as sieze the fedral arsenal. The goal within this event was to end slavery by invading the South, it did not end up like that though. Brown was hung as well while being known as a hero from the Northerners however, a terrifing and frightening man.
- The Election of 1860, an event which made Arhbam Licion into a powerful yet also a dispised individual by the Southerners. Lincoln adressed that slavery will be ended sooner or later. This vow made the Southerners extremely hopeful as well as forming a trust within Liconon. However, this vow also created the Southerners to form hatred towards Liconon.
