- Hello. I'm Sarah Miller, the Tiny Earth Executive Director. I'm here to answer questions about myself, and what Tiny Earth does.
- As an undergraduate I got interested in Tiny Earth by studying Plant Pathology. It was important to me that I could do science and have a big impact.
- In grad school, I met others with a similar attitude toward science that I had. We formed a group called Issues in Life Sciences and Education to discuss issues in teaching and learning STEM.
- Now I work at the Wisconsin Institute of Discovery at University of Wisconsin Madison.
- Tiny Earth is a program headquartered here at the Wisconsin Institute of Discovery and focuses on crowdsourcing data about soil bacteria. The goal is to help address the threat of bacterial resistance to current antibiotics. Finding new antibiotics in soil bacteria can help to solve this issue.
- My role at Tiny Earth is to coordinate everything that's going on. I make sure that the kids are getting the scientific experience they need as well as working with all the other researchers.
