- This scene portrays the opening text. When Montresor is talking about him getting his revenge on Fortunato.
- This scene is when Montresor takes Fortunato down to his cata combs to see the wine. It is the rising action because it is where the suspense starts to build.
- This is when Montresor chains Fortunato up and he thinks it is a joke. Fortunato says funny joke and Montresor laughs.
