- Dad boasts about his son being able to create diamonds.
- I'm the best and my son can make diamonds out of thin air
- Oh really?
- Mob kidnaps the son.
- Come with us.
- The Boss makes a deal.
- I have a proposal for you. Make me diamonds and you can live.
- The father brags about his son and puts him in danger. This is similar to Rumpelstiltskin, because in the original fairy tale a father brags that his daughter could spin straw into gold. 
- A mysterious man offers to help
- I will help you.
- The gang shows up and kidnaps the son. This is similar to the original fairy tale, because once the king finds the girl that can spin straw into gold he kidnaped her.
- The mysterious man comes to collect
- I will take your soul unless you can tell me my favorite color
- The boss tells the son to make diamonds for 3 days. This is similar to the original fairy tale, because the king tells the girl to spin straw into gold for 3 days.
- The son avoids paying
- Your favorite color is red.
- The mysterious man shows up to bail out the son. This is similar to the original fairy tale, because the girl gets help from a mysterious man who spun the straw into gold for her.
- For a price.
- The sons goes on with his life for some time, until the mysterious man appears to collect his debt. In the original fairy tale, Rumpelstiltskin came to collect the debt from the daughter, but offered her a chance to avoid paying.
- The son does guess the mysterious mans favorite color. This is similar to the original fairy tale, because the daughter also avoids paying her debt to Rumpelstiltskin.
- You weren't supposed to know that.
