  • I'm waking up to my alarm. The temporal lobe processes the alarm sound, while RAS controls my alertness. Hypothalamus causes the hormonal shift. The amygdala may cause stress if the alarm is unexpected. Prefrontal Cortex processes the alarm sound, and the motor cortex actually gets me out of bed.

  • I have swim practice. The motor cortex coordinates kicking, arm strokes, my body movement. The cerebellum helps control my body movement when I swim. The basal ganglia helps develop automatic stroke technique through consistency and practice. The sensory cortex helps me feel the body position. The visual cortex guides you in the pool. The prefrontal cortex focuses on your attention. The hippocampus remembers the techniques and sets I learn. The Amygdala handles stress and motivation while swimming. Lastly, the brainstem manages your breathing.
