After school one day, John was being shamed for his clothes by Tim, the school bully.
You got those clothes from a thrift store? You must be homeless!
These were the best clothes that my mom could afford!

Tim then kicked John to the floor and stole his lunch money.
Don't ever come to school wearing that trash again!
Slide: 3
When John got home, he cried to his mom about how he had been bullied at school today.
Why do we have to be so poor! I got bullied today for wearing this thrifted outfit!
That's too bad honey, you know I've been trying my hardest to support your since dad died.

John felt so mistreated to the point where he was planning to fight the bully before his mom taught him a very valuable lesson.
I'm done being bullied by this kid! I'm going to fight him tomorrow!
Son, when you are in situations like this, it is often times best to not be overtaken by anger and be merciful.

The next day at school, Tim confronted John like usual, but this time, John responded differently
You know the drill, give me your lunch money before I make you!
Tim, you don't need to do this, and in a way, I feel bad for you, I forgive you though.

This gave Tim a new perspective that taught him how to be nicer and the two boys learned how to be merciful.
You're right, I apologize for treating you like that.
