  • I noticed that trash is more likely to end up in storm drains systems in the waverly community vs the west area of waverly that leads into john hopkins Homewood area
  • As I walk through Greenmount I see trash on the ground that also covers the Storm drain which can cause potential flooding and bad for water quality that leads to oceans.
  • I have wallked through Waverly located in East Baltimore to analyze trash in the area can affect Storm water drains and cause flooding and water pollution to the ocean
  • Do you notice flooding in this area?
  • Yes during rainfall we get alot of water that comes from the abandoned house due to gutters not working properly
  • From brentwood avenue to frisby street there is alot of trash on the ground and from barclay street to john hopkins haampton storm drains are maintained and little to no trash
  • As I walk through 32nd street towards John Hopkins Hampton The demographic changes and the neighborhood is more maintained
  • As polluted water makes its way to the oceans, water quality can be affected, which often results in the closing of local beaches due to unhealthy water conditions. Stormwater carries disease-causing bacteria and viruses. People living in low income may not feel need to clean trash when they are not stable themselve
  • Waverly is seperated into two different demographics and is gentrified between low income families that may be renting vs people who may make higher income and are homeowners
